Fusion LX are AV and lighting specialists, working within the heritage sector. They work on a wide range of projects, from domestic electrical work to complex installations at visitor attractions. As a result, the demands of every project can differ vastly, and come with their own challenges.
Project Lead Mark Wootton told us that sourcing the right kit to deliver individual tailored software solutions, at a decent price point, is always a challenge for Fusion LX. He added that on almost all of their visitor attraction projects, they struggle with finding the balance between COTS products and custom-built specialist equipment.
That’s why they decided to partner with us to deliver their latest visitor attraction.
Fusion LX were working with Hopetown Darlington, a historic railway museum and visitor attraction, to deliver Experiment!, a new railway-themed simulator-style ride. They needed a rackmount media server to play back the attraction’s content, control the motion base and interface with the other AV hardware.

Mark says Fusion LX are always keen to streamline their procurement processes, so they were looking for a single supplier who could meet their specifications, offer excellent customer service, and reliable support. This would allow them to deal with any potential technical challenges efficiently, keeping their client happy.
They decided to partner with us because we met these needs perfectly.
“Novatech were spot on with the specification of the hardware at a great price point whilst also being able to turn around our customised solution on a short deadline,” Mark said.
We delivered a rackmount server built using an Intel I7 14700K, an AMD Radeon Pro W6800, and 32GB of DDR5 5600MHz RAM, packaged in a Chenbro 4U 42300 Chassis. This was based on a specification requested by Fusion LX, which was tweaked to better meet their needs.

Mark said that it was a very positive experience working with us on this project.
“We find Novatech super responsive. We get great dedicated support from our Sector Specialist. They go the extra mile to source the components we require and package it all together in a customised solution – but give us all the support and reliability you would expect from an off the shelf solution.”
Their media server was delivered on time and to specification. It is now fully installed in the AV rack, helping everything function reliably. As a result, Hopetown Darlington’s latest ride is now fully commissioned, ready to welcome the public.
Fusion LX were so pleased with our work on this project that they’ve already recommended us to other companies, and have begun specifying several more similar media servers for their future projects.
“Having Novatech in our supply chain has really enhanced our confidence in delivering these types of projects,” Mark said.
He concluded: “It’s been great working with Novatech – a really positive experience. We feel like we’ve had great dedicated service and ended up with a fully customised solution that has met the needs of the project perfectly.”
