Supporting The UK’s Largest Digital Bank With IT Asset Lifecycle Management

Monzo were growing fast. In fact, they were onboarding 100 new hires a month, which was a lot more than their HR and IT teams could handle. They needed an IT partner who could work flexibly around their existing processes to deliver a cost-effective, scalable IT Asset Lifecycle Management service.  

Our Direct2Desk (ITAM) services allowed Monzo to fully automate their onboarding and offboarding process, without the recurring contract or expensive bloat often associated with asset management.  

Monzo’s requirements 

Monzo is the UK’s largest digital bank, set up to be completely self-reliant and to operate without branches. Since 2015 they have seen incredible growth, with more than 7.5 million current users and tens of thousands of new accounts opened every week. 1 in every 100 Faster Payments are now processed through Monzo, and this expansion required them to update and expand their IT operations far beyond what they had originally anticipated – including supplying their staff with the correct technology. 

Our solution 

Without tying them down with an expensive contract, we allowed Monzo to opt into the lifecycle services they needed from us most.  

Most importantly, we were able to supply their staff with the right devices, shipped directly to their homes. Our B2C legacy means we know deliveries and returns like nobody else – so we could take charge of their logistics, allowing them to focus on more important matters.  

As well as this, there was a demand for a streamlined method of procurement, the answer to which was a custom API developed by us completely in-house. Our API allowed Monzo to hook us into their existing tools, which was much more convenient for them. With this, they can procure the devices they needed – to own, not just to lease – ready to use when they need, and stored with us when they don’t. 

We also introduced a level of traceability for Monzo, making it simpler to manage their devices. Each device has a serial number tied to an individual, making it easier to keep track of. 

Finally, when a staff member leaves or they no longer need a device, they have several options. Whether they choose to refresh and redeploy to another area of their business, refurbish for resale, or recycle sustainably, we deal with it for them. 

The results 

Our IT Asset Management Services have drastically improved Monzo’s IT processes. 

We’ve removed the burden of logistics from their IT team, saved them from overspending on expensive contracts, and helped them move towards a faster, smarter and greener IT infrastructure. 

Whenever Monzo requires something, we offer a response within minutes. Our technical resources, ordering processes, lead account manager, and backend system assistance are all readily available to them.
